The Wenger Ranger Series was created for those challenges that take a little more skill, a little more knowledge and tools that are a little more powerful. The Wenger Ranger 56 features a locking, 4 inch blade that is capable of cutting those more demanding projects down to size.
The Wenger Ranger 56 Swiss Army knife also sports our patented locking screwdriver/cap lifter/wire stripper, Phillips screwdriver, double cut wood saw, can opener, reamer/awl with sewing eye, keyring and ergonomic handles that improve the knife’s safety, performance and functionality. It’s safe to say that the Wenger Ranger 56 delivers a little more than your typical knife.
Wenger - the genuine Swiss Army knife since 1893:
It dates back to 1886 when the Swiss Army decided to equip every soldier with a regulation single blade folding knife. In 1889 a new rifle was introduced. To take apart the rifle a screwdriver was needed. So the decision was made to create a multi purpose tool incorporating a knife, screwdriver, reamer and can opener.
At that time, the cutlery industry in Switzerland was well established but incapable of mass production. So the knives were made in Solingen, Germany. However, a Swiss cutler soon established a knife manufacturing company and began to make army knives. Shortly after in 1893 at Courtetelle in Delémont Valley, the second industrial cutlery of Switzerland, Paul Boechat & Cie - and the future Wenger S.A. - received a contract from the Swiss Army to produce knives.
Built for outdoor adventures:
The Alinghi crew takes the new multi hull out for a training session. Adventurer Mike Horn leads a group of young explorers studying the effects of global warming on New Zealand's ecosystem. Swiss climber Ueli Steck summits Walker Pointe, the highest point in the Grand Jorasses, in a record 2 hours and 21 minutes. Nine adventure racing teams set out on the Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race. Finishing it is a victory in itself.
In the Wenger ambassadors, we see the same qualities that drive the development of our Swiss Army knives. Dedication, experience, the need to be prepared for anything, and a deep respect for the outdoors.
